The Rebel Girl

[ Seperate Series; Following "Unnatural." ]

'I guess, a lot has happened.' She murmured. The stares and murmuring was buzzing in her mind and ears as she walked down the dirt and dust street of a small town. Her head was down, knowing exactly what they were talking about. Something about how her dad had sold her, or how she killed her mom. And even about her abusive boyfriend.

-Flashback-

She walked into a pub, looking around. At this time, her blond hair was down a bit past her shoulders. Her green eyes were vibrant. A man approached her, his auburn color hair, the color of the most vibrant Autumn leaves, covering his face. He said nothing as he sat next to her.

"Give me a rum, and get the lady, one of whateva she wants."

At first, Evie had no idea that the 'lady' was her. But as she saw the bartender, she blinked. "Oh.. Uh.. I'll just have.. some rum."

The bartender nodded, slamming the cups next to the two. Evie took one, chugging about half of it. Her eyes were blank.

"Wow. That bad?" The male joked, but received a glare from Evie.
"Don't fuck with me, hobo." She murmured under her breath.
"Oooh~ Feisty." The male laughed, taking a quick swig from his glass.
Evie remained silent, finishing her glass.
"Another round, for my lady!" He called, the bartender sending him a glare.
"You better pay your tab, Siok." [ Pronounced, Suh-yok; only slurred. ]
So called Siok rolled his eyes. "You know I will."
Evie blinked as another cup of run was placed in front of her. "Thanks, dude." She murmured to Siok.
The male grinned, flipping his hair, for it was in his eyes. "No problem, Hun."
Evie rolled her eyes, but she felt her heart flutter.
"So?" Siok pressed, looking at her.
"So what?" Evie snapped back.
The male gave a laugh, so charming that it caused Evie's stomach to tumble. "I asked you a question."
Evie was slightly embarrassed, "Repeat it."
Siok laughed, "Nah."
He got up, walking away to a different table, one with a few guys, who seemed to be her friend.

Evie sat for a long time, finishing her rum before walking over to the table. Her frogged shorts barely reached the halfway point from her hips to her knees. The male she had talked to before was sitting by himself on a booth, for his other friend left. Evie took his place quickly.
"Oh hey, rum girl," Siok laughed.
Evie shot him a glare, giving him no response.
"What's your name?" He asked, a slight Southern accent tainting his voice, and Evie felt herself blush slightly.
"A-" She started. 'No. My name is Evie now.' The teen thought. "Evie." She didn't even mean to tell him her name, and she was quite shocked she did.
"Nice to meet you, Evie. My name is Siok.
Evie just shrugged, her black jacket a bit dusty from the outside.
Siok just laughed. "Do you want to go somewhere? I'll buy you something."
Evie was a bit skeptical. "Why?"
Siok smiled, "It looks like you will need every friend you could have, don't you think."
And Evie admitted it. She had no one, and that was the way it seemed like it would be. Until Siok talked to her. "Fine."

The male grinned, taking her hand and leaving the restaurant, "forgetting" to pay his tip. He walked her down the streets, arm linked with her. Evie smiled, stopping as she saw an animal shelter. [A/N: She showed a lot more emotion back during this time- Which is after she had the experiments done to her.] Without waiting for Siok, she entered, heading instantly to the bird section. She stared at the birds happily, putting her finger in a cage of a pretty, purple and blue one. It hopped onto her finger, and chirped.

"If you want it, you can have it." Siok said.
"Well duh," Evie murmured. "I think I will keep you. I'll call you..." She stopped, trying to decide. "Dawn."
Siok got the volunteer to give him the paper work and stuff, handing it all to Evie.
Evie filled it out, and the moment they got outside, she let it out of its cage, and it flew away. Evie set the cage on the ground, walking away.
The auburn-haired male was confused. "Wait, you're not going to keep it?"
The blond grinned to herself. "If I love something, and it loves me back, it will always find me."
He rolled his eyes. "No one actually believes that."
Evie didn't even turn back. "Guess I'm nobody."
Siok sped-walked after her. "Do you have a place to stay?"
The teen shook her head, "Nope."
"How about you stay at mine?"
It was asked like a question, but there was some force telling her to accept. And Evie couldn't fight it.
"Sure.." She mumbled, following him to his house.

It wasn't long after that, that Evie practically moved into Siok's house. She trusted him to the highest capacity.
One day, they were laying on the couch, Evie in his lap, and Siok gently lacing his fingers into Evie's hair.

They had been dating for almost 6 months.

"How about we get married..?" Evie asked, green eyes watching him.
"We.. Could." Siok murmured back. "But isn't it too early?"
Again, the force on the words. Evie nodded slowly. "Yeah, your right."

It wasn't a few weeks later that there was a huge fight. They were fighting over who knows what, daggers and knives involved. Evie, who wasn't the best at the time, was nearly automatically conquered by him.

And was he angry. He yelled at her, spitting. "Stupid little bitch." He dug the knife along her spine, causing it to bleed out.
Evie flailed, eventually passing out from the blood loss.

She woke up, tied to a bed. Except. The bed was metal. A jolt caused her to come to her senses.
"Glad your awake, dearie.." Came a dark voice. Her eyes widened in surprise.
"Siok.." She murmured breathlessly.
"That'd be my name." He flipped a switch, a huge electric current sweeping through Evie's body.
She screamed, writhing in pain. Hot tears fell from her eyes. "How could you betray me?! I loved you, didn't you love me?"
Siok just laughed, an obnoxious one. "Everything was fake, dearie. You see, I'm a syren. I lure people in. It's kind of my.. Thing." A crooked smile.

-End of flashback-

I guess that was the start of my trust issues. I put up so many walls now, and try to hide my emotions. During that period of time, I was abused physically often by Siok, but thankfully he never went as far as to rape me.

Maybe there really is a god.

I still have the scar on my spine. It used to make me cry, but now I'm over it. I wish I could say that I have had my revenge, but Siok has disappeared.

At least he's gone. I guess it could be worse. But, there's this other guy now.

And I hate to say it, but I'm falling for him.

But he left me too.
